Poem: "Is There a Coda to the Story?"

Is there a coda to the story?
What’s the story, morning glory?
There were chapters sure left out,
Redacted passages left out,
Dialogues that came to nought,
And asterisks about.

Did you choose to tell me, then,
When all was said and done?
The text was checked and sent to press,
The battle lost and won?

Presented as a choice but I
Couldn’t change a word;
The text was checked and sent to press,

And that was all she wrote.
